Happy Thanksgiving

The school will be closed Thanksgiving day.

CLOSED Thursday 11/24  (but OPEN Friday and Saturday!)

Kid’s Karate Update

There will be a new kids’ class starting Thursday November the 10th!

Thank you to all our loyal students and parents who have made the Monday and Saturday kids’ classes so successful.  We are adding another beginner class to reduce the size of those two groups.  This will give each child more space to work in,  and allow for more individual attention from the instructors.

If your child is on the unlimited program, they will gain access to an extra class.  If your child is in the once a week/twice a week program, you may now choose Thursday as the day (or one of the days) that they attend.

Thank you again and we look forward to this up-coming Thursday

Intra-School Grappling Tournament

The intra-school grappling tournament was held on Tuesday Oct. 11th during the MMA Advanced Class.  Students paired off in submission matches and the winner of each match received a raffle ticket to win two tickets to the Fight-To-Win MMA show on October 21st.

And the winner is…. Stephanie Vasquez,  congratulations Stephanie!

Month of the Cobra

There are five animals represented in Kenpo training and this month the Kids Class focus is the Cobra, for accuracy and precision in striking.  Cobra pictures have been given out for the kids to color.  Every student who hangs their picture in the school will receive a raffle ticket in a drawing for a free ‘Karate & Kanji’ wall scroll.

And the winner of the art-tastic raffle is Rachel Hare!  Thank you to all the kids that displayed their colorful cobras.

Kick Down 96

What: Mixed Martial Arts competition

When: Friday September 9th

Where: Red Lion Hotel (I-70 & Quebec)

=== Results ===

Jeremy Leonard (0-0) fought David Garcia (1-0).  It was a good fight with back and forth action until Jeremy slipped on a kick.  Upon hitting the ground Jeremy turned away and caught a big punch from behind as he tried to get up.  David jumped to top mount and the fight was stopped by the referee.

Doug Hoover vs. Tyrone Mason in a double debut match up.  Both fighters circled until the larger Tyrone came in and landed a good head shot around Doug’s guard.  The match went on with Doug showing good reaction under pressure and strong heart but, hurt by that punch, he was unable to get the upper hand back and Tyrone eventually ended the fight standing.

Nothing can replace the experience gained of actually getting in the cage, a step few people ever take.  Both fighters worked hard for their fight, put it on the line, did well and will be back better and stronger then ever.  We are all proud of you gentleman.

New Time

The Tuesday day time Kickboxing class has been moved to Mondays at the same time (1-2pm).

Month of the Leopard

This month’s Kids Class animal is the leopard.   The swift leopard represents speed in our techniques.

All children who colored a leopard picture were entered in a drawing to win a wakizashi bokken (a wooden Japanese small sword).  And the winner of the drawing was… Kaven Sowell!  Congratulations Kaven and thank you to all the kids who got their creative juices flowing.
