Mr. Dunkle’s Martial Arts journey began in his childhood, while practicing Kung Fu with some close friends. This led to the study of other styles such as Aikido, Jujitsu and Karate. In his 20′s, Allen was a professional touring musician. During this time he became aware that many traditional martial arts styles just didn’t seem to be able to cope with the true nature of violence. This back ground and having grown up with a father who fought in the Pacific during WWII as an Army Ranger, made Allen have a good appreciation for the practical. Allen’s quests for a school with an emphasis on ‘what works!’ led him through the doors of Advantage Martial Arts. The experts will tell you that the best self defense dojo is one that teaches all ranges of combat, weapon defense as well as use, multiple attackers responses, and more. AMA was just such a school. Since joining, Mr. Dunkle has earned his Nidan rank (second degree black belt) in Kenpo, and has studied Arnis, Close Quarter Combatives, as well as MMA. He has become an invaluable instructor on the AMA teaching team.
