Month of the Leopard

This month’s Kids Class animal is the leopard.   The swift leopard represents speed in our techniques.

All children who colored a leopard picture were entered in a drawing to win a wakizashi bokken (a wooden Japanese small sword).  And the winner of the drawing was… Kaven Sowell!  Congratulations Kaven and thank you to all the kids who got their creative juices flowing.

Paul Pruett (1-1 ) fought Dominick Garkow (2-0) in the third fight of the night.  Paul opened up with a head kick, Dominick ducked the kick and shot in.  Paul stuffed the shot and both fighters ended up, standing, against the cage.  Eventually they went down with Dominick on top side mount.  Paul reversed to get on top and then got Dominick’s back.  Paul punched, flattened Dominick out and then finished the fight with a rear naked choke at 2 minutes and 30 seconds in the first round.  Nice job Pauley!

Month of the Crane

Over the next several months the Kids Classes will be focusing on the different animals of Kenpo.  This month it’s the graceful Crane that represents increased balance and coordination gained through their Karate training.

Crane pictures have been given out to the kids to color.  There will be an Art Contest with a drawing for a free Junior Hanging Bag!  Every entry will receive one raffle ticket.

===Results===

The winner of the Junior Hanging Bag is… Liam Rogers! (on right side)  We had a runner up drawing,  just in case the Rogers  family couldn’t accept the bag, and the runner up was… Taylor Rogers!  (on left side)  Since both brothers’  names were drawn, we took it as  a sign that this family needs that bag.  Congratulations guys and thank you to all the kids who entered their art work; we have some awesome pictures.

Guest Instructor

Rex Payne is a former Pro Mixed Martial Arts fighter and has ranking in two different Ju-Jitsu camps.

Rex will be coming to AMA show some of his great ground game.  Starting on Tuesday March 22nd Rex will be a guest instructor during every other Tuesday night Advanced MMA Class.  Don’t miss an opportunity to train with a different flavor of talent.

Good Stuff Coming for Our Junior Students

Newly improved ‘Kids Kenpo’ curriculum!  The yellow belt (beginning) requirements have been changed to help better support the younger students.

and…

Starting the week of February 21st, additional classes for kids will be added!  Due to the huge success of the Junior program the normal Kids Class will be split into ‘Tigers’ (beginner levels) and ‘Dragons’ (for anyone with the rank of Orange Belt or above).  The Tiger Classes will be held at the same time and have the same good material as the current Kids Kenpo Classes do now.  The new Dragon class will follow the Tiger class on Mondays and Saturdays and feature advanced learning and the addition of friendly sparring.
